Hi, I’m Christa!
I’m a Chinese-Spanish-Filipino born and raised in the Philippines. A 4th Generation Chinoy with Philippine roots dating back to the 1800’s (about 5-6 generations back), and a 5th or 6th Generation Spanish.
I graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University and took up one-year Chinese language courses in both Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) and Xiamen University (Xiamen, China).
I am conversant in English, Tagalog, and Cebuano, and can manage daily conversations in Mandarin.
Currently living in Dumaguete City — the City of Gentle People.
I’ve always considered myself a writer and somewhat of a poet, but I’ve recently been reconsidering this description and editor seems to suit me better since I can be very grammar conscious. I used to describe myself as a blogger (even while people used to go “what’s that??” back in the early days of Philippine blogging) when I started to do this online writing thing back in 2003 via DeviantArt and Livejoural. And yes, those accounts of mine still exist.
I am an avid reader/bookworm. I enjoy sharing the fun-fact that I had borrowed 300-400 books from our school library during my 4 years of high school. And maybe around 100 books from our elementary school library. You can refer to me as a tsundoku since I enjoy buying books, but can’t seem to finish what books I already have on-hand.
I volunteer as a librarian on the online book site Goodreads, which matches my penchant for (1) reading books, (2) constantly looking for new books to read, (3) writing book reviews, and (4) editing and correcting book (information) entries with errors on them.
Dolldalera: a combination of the English word doll and the Tagalog word daldalera (which refers to someone who reaaaaalllly loves to talk).
