Nothing says November (and that 1 month countdown to Christmas) like the release of Starbucks Philippines’ 2017 planner! Every year, one of the things that gets me most excited about the Christmas season, is waiting to see what Starbucks will come out with next in terms of its planners. As with previous years, I was lucky enough to get an early copy of the planner as a gift from my mother, and coincidentally this year it happened to fall exactly on my birthday (Oct 29)!

2 designs: Mermaid Scales and Coffee Stains
Similar to the 2016 planner, Starbucks comes out with 4 planner varieties to choose from. There are 2 main designs: one with the mermaid scales, and another with coffee stains. And each main design comes out in 2 sizes. What comes with the planner is a pouch (much like the 2012 planners for those like me who collect these babies! ;)) and an erasable ink pen (great for all similarly OC people who can’t stand making erasures on their people planners~)
If you’ll check below, what I actually have is the mermaid planner. My brother was able to get a coffee stains one, which I also want (I’m an addict!), but sadly I forgot to take a photo of his.
One of the things you’ll notice when you first open the pages of your planner, is that the paper (gsm-wise) is thicker than that of the 2016 planner. I do love Moleskine, and I love how they partnered with Starbucks, but it was more than a little annoying to see ink marks written on one side of the page visible on the next pages. For those who love to journal, I’m sure this was annoying at more than one point through the year.
One thing I was glad to see different in this year’s planner, is their magnetic bookmark. In all honesty, I’ve not really been using those threaded-ish looking bookmarks that they’ve been using for the last few years. It’s just NOT practical. What I did instead was that I’ve been reusing a magnetic bookmark that Starbucks included in one of its earlier planners (2011 maybe?) and I’ve been using it so often that part of the plastic has already come off from wear and tear.
I’m just so glad that they came out with a new one this year, because really, it’s more practical and more useful. In fact, I’d love it if they came out with 2 or 3 magnetic bookmarks the next time around. I’d use them for my planners, but I would also use them as bookmarks for my books.
The first page that greets you is colorful, and it gives a slight preview to what you may expect further on in the pages. I like how it looks creative, inspirational, and how it kind of welcomes you to start planning your 2017 adventures.
Who wouldn’t fall in love with these beautiful pre-month views. They’re so beautiful, and colorful, and each month has its own unique design and style.
You’ll also love the weekly views. Similar to last year’s design, one whole week is put into one page. Summarize everything on one page, and place all your long notes and comments on the adjoining page. What’s nice about this year’s design, is that each notes page keeps is creatively designed so you stay creative and inspired throughout the weeks/months.
You’ll also notice that there are dedicated notes page at the back, just like in previous years. Nice for note-taking, journaling, or jotting down adventure plans for 2017 and even 2018! As well as the usual back flap for you to store loose sheets and whatnot.
And check out these cool stickers! I’m so tempted to revive my childhood sticker albums so I can just stick them on there. They’re too pretty to use~
Let’s not forget the monthly coupons!
As always, I can’t wait to start jotting down stuff on my Starbucks planner. It’s waiting to be filled with movie tickets, words about my adventures, plans waiting to be made, and all those other things a new year is made of!
But before I end this post, check out a quick preview video I posted on instagram a few days ago. I show you how the planner looks like from the cover, all the way to the back!
Note: All media in this post (photos and video) were taken by me, except for the first photo which I grabbed from Starbucks Philippines’ facebook page.
