A couple of days ago, I attended a Magnum Philippines event for the pre-launch of the new flavor from Magnum, which will now become available in the Philippines. Magnum, if you’re not yet familiar with this brand, is a luxurious Belgian chocolate ice cream bar that came to the Philippines about two years ago. With 2014 well on its way, Magnum is now bringing Magnum Gold to its loyal Philippine fans.
The event was hosted by celebrity Raymond Gutierrez who was joined by 2 Magnum Philippines executives, helped to introduce to us the new flavor of Magnum, Magnum Gold, which will be coming out starting Monday February 10. The event was also joined by fashion designer Rajo Laurel, a Magnum Philippines ambassador, who I was lucky to be seated next to as we sat at the comfy lounge chairs of SM Aura’s Director’s Club.
And because the launching of Magnum Gold is more than just a new flavor, Magnum Philippines wowed its guests with this amazing trailer for Magnum Gold’s arrival. Tying up with famous Hollywood director Bryan Singer, Oscar winner Benicio del Torro, and and Brazilian supermodel and actress Caroline Correa, Magnum brings us a cinematic trailer that’s sure to WOW viewers into buying this newest Magnum flavor.
So, what does the Gold in Magnum Gold stand for anyway? This is the question on a lot of people’s minds when you hear, Magnum Gold. You usually hear the flavors chocolate, or strawberry, mango or orange, but does Magnum Gold really put tidbits of gold into their ice cream? What is exactly???
Magnum Gold is another level of delicious, with its silky vanilla ice cream coated with sea salt caramel, coated again with the a thick layer of golden Belgian chocolate. It is the first ever double dipped Magnum bar, first coating the ice cream in a layer of Belgian Milk Chocolate, before coating it with a layer of golden-colored white chocolate.
Sound delicious? Of course. Who wouldn’t love chocolate coated with more chocolate, and have a go of that and find delicious vanila ice cream oozing from the inside.
Of course, the event wouldn’t be a great pre-launch without letting attendees get a taste of the new Magnum Gold ice cream, which this lucky ice cream-loving, chocolate-addicted blogger got to do. So you can say we’re one of the first to have a bite of these delicious ice cream bars, as they make their way to the Manila scene.

My review of the new Magnum Gold ice cream? Delicious! I loved how I was just eating into chocolate over chocolate over chocolate. It was good. I think I would have loved it more if I was a bigger fan of white chocolate, which I’m not as I’m more fond of milk and dark chocolate. Nonetheless, the taste is so very sweet; if you have a sweet tooth, you’ll definitely like Magnum’s new Magnum Gold ice cream.
And, of course, Magnum doesn’t end the unveiling by just showing to a bunch of bloggers and media people, or suddenly finding that Magnum Gold bars are being sold in your favorite groceries or shops…NO. Magnum takes it a step further.
Last February 5, motorists weaving their way around the heavily congested Makati area may have caught a glimpse of a massive golden vault, marked only by the letter ‘M,’ being escorted through traffic, casting an air of mystery and anticipation. This 7×7 foot-large vault of shining gold was hauled from the RCBC Tower on Ayala Avenue to the Fort Bonifacio Activity Center, guarded by an entourage of BMWs ensuring its safe arrival. Once at the Fort, the golden vault was held under maximum security and will continue to be guarded until its unveiling on February 9.
Starting today, February8, mini gold vaults found their way to the cinema lobbies of malls around Metro Manila. And tomorrow, February 9, Magnum takes it a step further by unveiling all the faults, at exactly 3pm. The first 100 people lined up at these special places will get a chance to experience Magnum Gold before it hits stores.
