I Do or I Die! RJ Ledesma’s Imaginary Guide to Getting Married and Other Man-made Disasters (As told to him by his Yaya). With chapters that unapologetically reveal how highly-strung husbands-to-be unravel under the pressures of marriage – from planning an epic proposal, staging covert bachelor parties to pamanhikan survival tips – RJ Ledesma’s candor makes even the most familiar ridiculously funny in his book.
Last October, I had the opportunity to attend the launching event for RJ Ledesma‘s new book, I Do or I Die, at the National Bookstore branch in Greenbelt 5. During this event, I was able to meet the author RJ Ledesma, who happened to be a friend of my mom. As the event began and RJ Ledesma introduced his book, it was astonishing to watch how lively and full of life the author was in talking about his married life and married life in general. For someone like me who has yet to experience that kind of thing first-hand, it was a story to behold as I listened to tales about his engagement, to the planning of his wedding, and sometimes even of his married life. An interesting perspective about married life, from the eyes of the other side – namely men.
It made me laugh, smile and wonder what men really thought about their own weddings, and how different it would seem to them as compared to girls like us with fanciful dreams and desires for our own “Happily Every After” weddings. I have yet to read the book, though my mom has purchased the book and had even had it personally signed by RJ Ledesma himself. I can tell, even if I haven’t read it yet, that the book will really be an interesting read.
From the way RJ Ledesma introduced his book and talked of his experiences, I’m sure that I’d enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed attending the launch.
