Let’s face it, I’m a tsundoku (or I have tsundoku) – there can never be enough time to read the books I want, never enough space to display all the books I want to show off, and in some way, never enough money to buy all the books I wish I had. That last one owing to the fact that I also enjoy buying clothes, eating out, and playing video games, so that’s pretty much cutting my budget so many ways.
The (wizarding) world of Harry Potter has to be one of the serieses that I can never get enough of. Even after the original 7 books and the spin-offs, there is still that feeling of wanting to have more of whatever Jo Rowling makes. Be it fanfiction (of which I myself have written one), doujinshi, repeated visits to Harry Potter-themed places (none of which I’ve been to), etc, it feels like nothing is ever enough, and her stories are never enough.
That feeling of not wanting to separate from that world possibly lies in the fact that Harry and his friends, and that world, are like childhood friends. I was about 11-12 years old when the novel first became popular, and through the years, I’ve grown along with them. Now, years after, with the coming of Newt Scamander’s stories, his reality within the world, it makes it feel all the more real.
So yes, even if I have a ton of books, and my goodreads to-read is currently at….checks site…365 (wow, that’s like 1 book a day for a year!), this feeling of wanting to read more, and to have more books, will never dissipate.
This is me, shouting into the void, and putting yet another book onto my to-read/wishlist. And of course, hoping beyond hope, that Jo Rowling will continue to make more of her fantastic novels…even if we know that the series is just being milked to the bone. Haha. We know it, but we love it and we continue to support it anyway.
